Why is it canonical?

Commissioned by the government of Siena, the artist Lorenzetti painted wall frescoes in the city hall depicting the values of civic virtue as held by the city government. Justice and Wisdom play key roles. Such characterization of virtue became a hallmark of the Renaissance.
