De architectura

30 BCE - 15 BCE

Why is it canonical?

Although written prior to the invention of many of the hallmarks of Roman architecture, this work nonetheless had a great deal of influence on writers during the Renaissance exploring the subject of architectural theory. It is commonly considered to be the only work on architectural theory from antiquity to have survived to the early modern period.
