Why is it canonical?

England was home to few artistic movements of importance, so the Rococo's emergence there was remarkable. William Hogarth was a part of this movement and the first notable English painter in decades. This series is Hogarth's style...a narrative imparting moral lessons. The series had tremendous impact on other work in the centuries that followed.
