Satyricon

Satyricon

circa 75 - 100

Why is it canonical?

Satyricon, along with Apuleius's Golden Ass, is part of and exemplifies the Roman novel genre. It can also be considered satire, although is far less formal than Juvenal's work and blends a significant amount of prose throughout it. It gives a unique and rare perspective of the Roman lower classes of the time.
