circa 500 BCE - 440 BCE

Why is it canonical?

Pindar was one of the great lyric poets of the Greece, and his "Victory Odes" are all that survive of his work intact. The are, however, also his most well known, lauded, and cited works. These works have been read for centuries as exemplars of Archaic Greek lyric poetry.
